Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) is Air Greenland’s main international hub. From 29 October 2026, we operate a direct flight from Copenhagen to Ilulissat once a week, on Wednesdays. Outside that weekly departure, your onward journey connects via Kangerlussuaq or Nuuk, with a possible overnight stay depending on the schedule. Connection times vary by departure, so always check the routing and layover length shown at booking.

Ilulissat is home to the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its dramatic glacier front. The town’s airport serves as the gateway to North Greenland and its surrounding settlements.

Danish and Nordic citizens do not need a visa for Greenland – a passport or valid ID is sufficient. Other EU citizens, including travellers departing from Germany, need a valid passport. Greenland is outside the Schengen Area, so always check the current entry requirements with your foreign ministry before departure.
