Your journey from Sisimiut to Aalborg
From Sisimiut Airport (JHS)
There is no non-stop flight between Sisimiut and Aalborg. Instead, you travel with Air Greenland via Nuuk: first on the short domestic hop from Sisimiut Airport to Nuuk Airport (GOH), flown year-round with a Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. We recommend being at the airport at least 2 hours before departure. Check-in opens 3 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before.
Connecting in Nuuk
Nuuk Airport is Greenland’s main hub, opened in November 2024 with a new 2,200-metre runway. From here, Air Greenland operates the seasonal direct route onward to Aalborg, flown with a leased Boeing 737-800 operated by AirSeven on Air Greenland's behalf. As the two legs use different aircraft types and are not always sold as a single through-fare, we recommend allowing generous connection time in Nuuk and confirming your onward booking and baggage arrangements when you book.
A summer connection to Jutland
Because the Nuuk-Aalborg leg only operates twice a week – on Mondays and Thursdays, from 16 June to 1 September – travel all the way through to Aalborg on this routing is only possible during that same window. Outside the Nuuk-Aalborg season, travellers from Sisimiut reach Aalborg by connecting via Copenhagen instead. As the Nuuk-Aalborg aircraft is a leased Boeing 737-800 rather than Air Greenland's own fleet, the onboard experience on that leg will differ noticeably from the smaller Dash 8 used on the first leg from Sisimiut. There is no WiFi on board either aircraft.
Arrival in Aalborg (AAL)
Aalborg Airport is well connected to onward travel across Jutland and Denmark, with regular bus and train links into central Aalborg and beyond. It is a convenient gateway to North Jutland for travellers arriving from Greenland, whether you are continuing your journey by road or rail or ending your trip in Denmark.
In the event of weather-related changes
Greenlandic weather can affect either leg of this journey, particularly the domestic hop between Sisimiut and Nuuk. In the event of a weather cancellation, we rebook you free of charge to the next available departure, and you are contacted automatically by SMS and email. Because this itinerary involves a connection, we recommend a flexible fare type and allowing extra buffer time in Nuuk in case of delays.
