Leg 1: Iqaluit (YFB) → Nuuk (GOH)
Air Greenland operates an international seasonal route from Iqaluit, the capital of the Canadian territory of Nunavut, to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. The flight is operated by a Dash 8-200 turboprop aircraft (37 seats) and covers a distance of approximately 825 km across the Davis Strait. The flight takes approximately 2 hours and operates only once a week, every Wednesday, during the season from 24 June to 30 September. Please note the 3-hour time difference — Nuuk is 3 hours ahead of Iqaluit.
Transfer in Nuuk (GOH)
In Nuuk, you will transfer to a domestic flight onward to Qaqortoq in South Greenland. As the Iqaluit-Nuuk leg operates only once a week, you should plan your onward journey with plenty of time to spare. Depending on the connection time, you may need to stay overnight in Nuuk before continuing to Qaqortoq. Please also remember that you need a valid passport for entry into Greenland/Denmark, as well as a visa if applicable, depending on your nationality.
Leg 2: Nuuk (GOH) → Qaqortoq (JJU)
The final leg is a domestic flight operated by a Dash-8 turboprop aircraft, taking approximately 1 hour. This leg operates several times a week, year-round, connecting Greenland's capital with the town of Qaqortoq in South Greenland. As Nuuk and Qaqortoq are in the same time zone, no further time adjustment is needed for this leg.
Arrival in Qaqortoq (JJU)
Qaqortoq is the largest town in South Greenland, known for its colourful houses, the Stone & Man sculpture trail, and its role as a gateway to the region's fjords and Norse ruins. From Qaqortoq Airport, you can continue your onward journey within Greenland via Nuuk. The currency in Greenland is the Danish krone (DKK).
