Your journey from Ilulissat to Aalborg

Leg 1: Ilulissat (JAV) → Nuuk (GOH)

Air Greenland departs directly from Ilulissat Airport to Nuuk Airport (GOH) with a Dash-8 turboprop aircraft. The flight takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and operates several times daily, year-round, over approximately 600 km along Greenland's west coast. We recommend being at the airport at least 1 hour before departure. Check-in opens 2 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before.

    Connecting in Nuuk (GOH)

In Nuuk, you change to the seasonal flight that takes you onward to Aalborg. As this leg only operates twice a week – on Mondays and Thursdays during the summer season – you should plan your departure from Ilulissat with a good margin. Always check your specific connection time when booking, as schedules can vary by season and demand.

Leg 2: Nuuk (GOH) → Aalborg (AAL)

The final leg is flown with a leased Boeing 737-800 operated by AirSeven on Air Greenland's behalf. The flight takes approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes and operates twice a week – on Mondays and Thursdays – during the summer season from 16 June to 1 September. There is no WiFi on board.

    Arrival in Aalborg (AAL)

Aalborg Airport is a popular gateway for travellers from Jutland heading to Greenland, offering a direct connection without needing to route via Copenhagen during the summer season. From here you can easily continue on by car, train or connecting flight to destinations across Denmark.

    When is it cheapest?

As the Nuuk-Aalborg leg only operates during the summer season (16 June-1 September), there is no low season to choose between for this specific route. Book well in advance, as the season is short, capacity is limited, and demand is high.

    • High season (Jun–Sep, the only period the route operates): from DKK 6,700

In the event of weather-related changes

Greenlandic weather can affect the flight on both legs, particularly the Ilulissat-Nuuk connection. In the event of a weather cancellation, we rebook you free of charge to the next available departure, and you are contacted automatically by SMS and email. As the Nuuk-Aalborg leg only operates twice a week, we strongly recommend a flexible fare type and a good margin in your planning.
