Your journey from Ilulissat to Iqaluit

Leg 1: Ilulissat (JAV) → Nuuk (GOH)

Air Greenland operates direct flights from Ilulissat Airport to Nuuk Airport (GOH) with a Dash-8 turboprop aircraft. The flight takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and operates several times daily, year-round. We recommend arriving at the airport no later than 1 hour before departure. Check-in opens 2 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before departure.

    Transfer in Nuuk (GOH)

In Nuuk, you will transfer to the international seasonal route to Iqaluit in Canada. As this leg operates only once a week — every Wednesday during the summer season — you should plan your departure from Ilulissat with plenty of time to spare. Depending on your arrival time, you may need to stay overnight in Nuuk before continuing your journey. Please also remember that you need a valid passport for Canada, as well as an eTA or visa if applicable, depending on your nationality.

Leg 2: Nuuk (GOH) → Iqaluit (YFB)

The final leg is operated by a Dash 8-200 turboprop aircraft (37 seats) across the Davis Strait, covering a distance of approximately 825 km. The flight takes approximately 2 hours and operates only once a week, every Wednesday, during the season from 24 June to 30 September. Please note the 3-hour time difference — Iqaluit is 3 hours behind Nuuk.

    Arrival in Iqaluit (YFB)

Iqaluit is the capital of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. From Iqaluit Airport, you can continue your journey with Canadian North to destinations including Ottawa, Montreal and Kuujjuaq. The currency in Canada is the Canadian dollar (CAD).

    When is it cheapest?

As the Nuuk-Iqaluit route operates only during the summer season (24 June-30 September), there is no low season to choose from for this specific route. Book well in advance, as the season is short, capacity is limited (37 seats per week), and demand is high.

    • High season (Jun–Sep, the only period when the route operates): from DKK 6,700

    In case of weather-related changes

Weather conditions on both legs — particularly over the Davis Strait — can affect the flights. In the event of a weather-related cancellation, we will rebook you free of charge on the next available departure. Please note that the next departure on the weekly Nuuk-Iqaluit leg is not until one week later, so we recommend a flexible travel plan and allowing plenty of time when planning your journey.
