Ilulissat is home to the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its dramatic glacier front, and serves as the gateway to North Greenland. From 29 October 2026, Air Greenland operates a direct flight from Ilulissat to Copenhagen once a week, on Wednesdays. Outside that weekly departure, your journey connects via Kangerlussuaq or Nuuk, with a possible overnight stay depending on the schedule. We recommend being at Ilulissat Airport at least 2 hours before departure.
Connecting in Copenhagen (CPH)
Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) is Air Greenland’s main international hub. Your onward flight to Berlin is booked as part of the same ticket, operated by our interline partner SAS, so your baggage is checked through and you simply follow the connecting flights signage. Connection times vary by departure, so always check the routing and layover length shown at booking.
Arriving in Berlin (BER)
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is one of the destinations we serve through our interline agreement with SAS, giving you a seamless single-ticket connection from Greenland into the German capital.

Economy tickets on the Air Greenland sectors include 20 kg of checked baggage plus 8 kg of hand baggage. Premium passengers get 30 kg checked luggage plus 2 pieces of hand luggage, max 8 kg total. Baggage allowance on the Copenhagen–Berlin sector follows SAS’s policy for that fare type.

Fares on the Ilulissat–Copenhagen sector are typically lowest from October to March. Booking well ahead of your travel dates gives you more choice of routing, connection times and fares for the full Ilulissat–Berlin journey.
Danish and Nordic citizens do not need a visa for travel to Germany – a passport or valid ID is sufficient. Other travellers should check current Schengen entry requirements, as Greenland itself is outside the Schengen Area while Germany is inside it. Always check the current entry requirements with your foreign ministry before departure.
Takuss, Standard and Premium tickets can be changed to a different date or destination for a fixed fee of DKK 750, plus any fare difference. Changes can be made via My Booking up to 2 hours before departure. Please note that a domestic ticket cannot be changed to an international ticket, as these are two different products, each with their own ticket conditions. Standard Flex and Premium Flex continue to offer full flexibility. Takuss, Standard and Premium tickets are non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Only taxes and charges can be refunded, provided the cancellation is made up to 2 hours before departure.
