From Nuuk Airport (GOH)
Domestic departures from Nuuk Airport are handled separately from international departures. We recommend arriving at the airport no later than 1 hour before departure. Check-in opens 2 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before departure. If you are connecting from an international flight, such as from Copenhagen, your baggage is usually checked through to Ilulissat.
Across Disko Bay
The route is flown directly by Dash-8 turboprop aircraft over approximately 600 km along Greenland's west coast. Along the way, you will often have views of fjords, ice and mountains. A light selection of snacks and drinks is served on board — there is no WiFi on domestic flights.
Arrival in Ilulissat (JAV)
Ilulissat Airport is currently a small regional airport close to the town and the famous Ilulissat Icefjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A new airport with a longer runway is under construction and is expected to open on 29 October 2026, after which Air Greenland will launch direct flights between Copenhagen and Ilulissat. Until then, all international journeys to Ilulissat go via either Nuuk or Kangerlussuaq.
