Your journey from Nuuk to Iqaluit

    From Nuuk Airport (GOH)

As the flight is travelling to Canada, you should expect passport procedures and border control, just like on a regular international departure. We recommend arriving at the airport no later than 2 hours before departure. Check-in opens 3 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before departure. The departure from Nuuk is typically in the afternoon.

    Across Davis Strait

The route is operated directly with a Dash 8-200 turboprop aircraft across Davis Strait, covering a distance of approximately 825 km. It is one of the few commercial air links between Greenland and the North American continent, and along the way you can enjoy views of the sea and ice. Please note that there is a 3-hour time difference — Iqaluit is 3 hours behind Nuuk.

    Arrival in Iqaluit (YFB)

Iqaluit is the capital of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. From Iqaluit Airport, you can travel onwards in cooperation with Canadian North to destinations including Ottawa, Montreal and Kuujjuaq. Remember to bring a valid passport, and check whether your nationality requires an eTA or visa for Canada before departure. The currency in Canada is the Canadian dollar (CAD).

    A seasonal route

The route between Nuuk and Iqaluit is a seasonal connection, typically operated from late June to the end of September. As there is only one weekly departure, you should plan your journey well in advance and be aware that a possible flight connection to or from other destinations may require an overnight stay in either Nuuk or Iqaluit.

    In case of weather-related changes

Weather conditions over Davis Strait and in Nunavut may affect the flight. In the event of a weather-related cancellation, we will rebook you free of charge on the next available departure — please note, however, that on a weekly route, the next departure may not be until a week later. We therefore recommend a flexible travel plan and allowing plenty of time if you have onward connections.
