Your journey from Qaqortoq to Copenhagen
From Qaqortoq Airport (JJU)
Qaqortoq Airport opened on 16 April 2026, giving South Greenland’s largest town a fixed-wing runway for the first time. Before the airport opened, travellers flew via Narsarsuaq and continued to Qaqortoq by helicopter or boat – that extra leg is now a thing of the past. We recommend being at the airport in good time before departure and checking your exact check-in window when you book.
Connecting via Nuuk (GOH)
Your journey to Copenhagen connects through Nuuk, Greenland’s main international gateway. Here you change from the domestic aircraft serving South Greenland to Air Greenland’s flagship Airbus A330-800neo, which operates the Atlantic route onward to Denmark. The connection is built into your itinerary, so you don’t need to book separate tickets.
Arriving in Copenhagen (CPH)
Air Greenland arrives at Terminal 2 of Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup), close to onward connections across Europe and to the rest of Denmark. Check the arrivals information in your booking confirmation for the latest gate and baggage details.
When is it cheapest?
Fares on this route vary with the season, and typically rise around the South Greenlandic and Danish summer holidays in July, when demand is highest. For the best price, book as early as possible and stay flexible with your travel dates – shoulder-season months such as August and September tend to offer better value.
In the event of weather-related changes
Greenlandic weather, especially around the connection in Nuuk, can affect your journey. In the event of a weather cancellation, we rebook you free of charge to the next available departure and contact you automatically by SMS and email. We recommend a flexible fare type if you are travelling in the winter season.
