Your journey from Qaqortoq to Nuuk
From Qaqortoq Airport (JJU)
Air Greenland departs from Qaqortoq Airport, which opened on 16 April 2026 with a new 1,500-metre runway. The airport replaced both the old Qaqortoq Heliport and Narsarsuaq Airport as the main gateway to South Greenland. For domestic flights, we recommend being at the airport at least 60 minutes before departure.
Arriving in Nuuk (GOH)
Nuuk Airport (GOH) is Greenland’s main international gateway, opened in November 2024 with a new 2,200-metre runway. It lies just 4 km from the city centre – about a 10-minute taxi or local bus ride.
A scenic domestic route
The flight between Qaqortoq and Nuuk covers around 480 km along Greenland’s dramatic west coast, with the Dash 8 flying low enough to offer views of fjords, icebergs and coastal settlements along the way. It is one of the most convenient ways to connect South Greenland with the capital.
In the event of weather-related changes
Greenlandic weather can affect the flight, particularly on domestic routes flown by smaller turboprop aircraft. In the event of a weather cancellation, we rebook you free of charge to the next available departure and contact you automatically by SMS and email. We recommend a flexible fare type if you are travelling in the winter season.
